Counselling and Therapy for Children
*Children 7-12
I work with children from 7+. At this younger age group I may use creative methods in the room such as art, games, or sand trays, following the child’s lead into working through their specific needs, and offer a space in which they can be themselves. Despite being within a specific age group, I tailor the counselling to the individual child’s needs, working alongside them.
As an example; I had a young client who loved rocks and crystals and this became the central part of their therapeutic process in the work we did together, bringing their rock collection into the room. I also take into account your concerns as a parent at the same time as honouring your child’s autonomy in the process, and I have the specialist experience and training to navigate these sensitivities ethically as recommended in good practice.
My aim is for your child to feel empowered in the process, whilst at the same time my communicating with you, the parent as to how things are going in a way that feels comfortable and respectful to both of you.
